Here is our first effort to help the Fayette County Animal Shelter find a home from a sweet puppy. She’s been at the shelter for about a month. So if you need something to love she is looking for you! This should be up on thecitizen.com by tomorrow, Friday at the latest!

After many bridal shows and many discussions with soon-to-be-brides there are as many reasons some give for NOT having a video of their wedding as there are brides. Some people really dont care about pictures or video for that matter. But for the most part people really dont know what EXACTLY a wedding video is.
I have talked to people who were days away from getting married and were going to let a “friend of the family” run a camera. Some I have talked into getting one professionally done and NONE of them have regretted it. I have, on the other hand, heard many brides say they regretted not getting one. Am I bragging about my work? Well, yea, a bit, but it could be any professional videographers work! Any professional videographer will work very hard to produce something that they will treasure! It is so much more than just “running a camera”. Once the event is over you cannot go back and recapture it. We take all those moments and put it into a creative framework in a way that honestly looks like a movie! So, really, what would there be to be disappointed about?
You have to, of course, be sure you are dealing with a professional, but once that is determined, you are on the road to getting something that will become a part of your family. I have had so many people say that they had no idea how much they would love it. Seeing people you dont know get married when you see the videographers work just doesnt have the same effect as watching it when its your family on YOUR wedding day… with all the funny and wonderful things that happen during that day!
You would never consider having a wedding without a photographer, and you should always have one. We are not in competition with photographers, our craft is very different. You cannot hang a video or put one in your wallet. But you cant HEAR a picture. You cant see someone move and listen to the way they sound or capture the essence of the person in movement any other way like you can through video. At some point some of the people at your wedding will not be with you any longer. How valuable would it be to have them captured in sight and SOUND.
So many brides who only got a video because their mom wanted one have since come back and said that we gave them the best gift they recieved. One day when you have children, they will be able to see and HEAR you, the way you sounded and looked on the day you got married, as if they were there themselves. We wont even talk about grandchildren! But the point is that generations from now they will SEE and HEAR how you were on your wedding day! That’s just cool!
If you listen to our demo below, you will hear people tell why they value their video. These were past brides, grooms and parents and we asked them what they think of their video now that the wedding day is over. Here is some of what they said……
Well hope you enjoyed it! And if you are a bride trying to decide if you want to invest in a movie of your wedding day, I hope some of what I’ve said will make you think about it in a different way. We go to great lengths to make your movie the best possible thing it can be!

Well, starting today I am going to shoot some segments for the local Humane Society. We are partnering with our local newspaper to help show some of these cute little guys that need a home and hopefully find some folks who need their love! It should be up by the first week of March. The web site is www.thecitizen.com. Not sure right now what section it will be in, but there will be regular posts there so if you’re looking for some love take a look! We are also going to be doing other type of programming that we are in talks about right now, so visit www.thecitizen.com often to see what’s going on their internet tv channel! This, along with another publication we are partnering with, should give quite a bit of local programming on the internet. Wow! Just a really exciting time! Jan Horne

Well, this is my very first Blog. I always thought a blog was a spilt over bottle of ink. There might be some comparison’s here. (:}.
Lately, I have been shooting video for the Fayette Care Clinic. A non-profit clinic for medical & dental care for those that are with out medical & dental insurance and fall below a certain financial level. The hope is, that this video will encourage future sponsorship at a fund raiser at Glendalough Manor on March 1st. The priveledge to volunteer my services for a wonderful organization that helps so many, will be rewarding. I’ve started the editing this week.
I’m presently editing Joey & Brittany’s Wedding and very close to being done. Ian & Suzzane are in the very near future to be edited full time. My time has also been involved with the Cohnen Family B’nai. Both daughter and son are having their Mitzvah in late march. I really enjoy the Mitzvah’s. Family’s celebrating a child turning into an adult with added responsiblities but still alowing them to be a child, is excting to be involved with.
Like Jan said, we had some terrific experiences in Orlando at the 4Ever Group 08 Seminar. The knowlege I brought back from some of the best in the industry has already influenced my editing and shooting styles. It has added excitement for me in editing video. The additional challenges of learning new tricks in this induistry can only make us all better. They really can teach an old dog new tricks. Bow Wow!

I had a meeting with a publisher of a local publication today. It seems we are going to be partnering with them to create some programming for them and streaming it to the internet. What a wonderful opportunity to develop content for the internet. I wont disclose exactly what those programs are but it is really a great idea and hopefully it will lead to others and be profitable for all. Jan

Our corporate business doesn’t have a season, but the bridal part seems to. Our bridal season is about to get under way. We have a few bridal shows to go to and then we are on our way to 2008! Rob, John and I all went to Orlando for the 4Ever Groups annual event where the best in our field are teaching tips and techniques. We also heard about the latest things going on across the country in the field and saw the latest equipment. There was Jason Maquawa from the Phillipines who finally got his visa a few days before the conference began and he was added to the program at 9:30 at night and the place was packed. He was absolutely wonderful. He created a short video that he shot using his cell phone! Not that you would WANT to shoot it that way, but it showed his talent. There were so many people there that were inspiring and to see the way the award winners edit certainly gives you ideas of how to do some new and interesting things.
It was very encouraging to see how many people there are from all over that care about their craft like we do. The thing that was great for me personally was how many women were there! My favorite instructor is a brilliant woman from Maryland (yea you Luisa). She is an instructor in all things Adobe and is really loved by so many people. She has helped me in so many ways that I really could never thank her enough! My roommate was a girl from New Jersey who works as hard as I do and it was great to talk shop to another woman! Love the guys, but its really nice when you find other women who love the same things you do and loves to talk about it!

This video is a highlight version of Adrienne & Quincy’s wedding day. Just finished it and, well, I like it!
Well, I had intended to write on the blog often, but as usual, work has kept me busy. Not that I am complaining (the alternative to being busy is FAR worse) but there’s not been much time for anything but what I HAD to do.
Business has been really good during this otherwise down time for weddings. Aside from the work with Comcast, there are a few other clients that have not only been profitable, but a pleasure to work with. I went to an ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) meeting tonight. What a great bunch of women! The speaker was great and I met some other women in buisness in our area that are very serious about thier professions just like I am. My goal for this year is to branch out into more diverse areas that will allow for more creativity. I have met some very gifted people in my profession latley who also freelance. Its really been a great couple of months. Tomorrow I am meeting with a lady who has a child with a disablity and she wants to create a video to help bring awareness to her child circumstances. Wow! What a great opportuinty to use what I do to help someone! Have a great day! Jan
