New Name

Well after a year of trying to come up with a new name we have finally come up with one! As of next week our name will change officially to Studio 25 Productions, LLC. We are pursuing other avenues and feel this name most accurately represents us.

I hope you all have a Blessed New Year! Here at J & J we are preparing a new look to our site for the new year. We’ve added some features that I think will make our site much more useful to those who we hope will stay and see what we have to offer. One of the new features will be a place for couples to post their information, have RSVP’s respond and post your entire video to share with anyone you like! You will be able to use this feature on our site to post travel information to the wedding/reception site, post your wedding pictures and just about anything you like. This should be available the first week or two of the new year.

Almost the end of the year!

We have been very busy this summer and fall.  Good thing, the alternative is much worse, but its time for a break.  My daughter is getting married in St. Johns, Virgin Islands in December so I’ll take a break then.  Cheryl will still be editing to keep us on track (she is WONDERFUL!).  We’ve had some interesting shoots lately, some really cool things that are out of the ordinary, and thats always fun so things dont get too boring!

Hope you all are enjoying fall! I love it…although winter’s not so great, I hate being cold, but hey…there’s always spring around the corner!

Busy this summer~

I havent posted in a while, mainly because I have been so busy I could hardly keep up! I did a stupid thing…took a math class during the middle of my busiest time of year….AND it was a 16 week class crammed into 8 weeks AND I never had algebra before!!! Wow!!! I had no idea what I was in for! But I got a B!!! So, now the weddings are getting the attention they deserve and we are preparing for football season.  We are doing a football show for a surrounding county high school as well as two football programs for our county.  The one for our county will be on thecitizen.com…more to come on that!

We have a slate of fall weddings ahead of us. We are starting something new…we are bringing other vendors into our organziation to offer an option for brides that are looking to make things simplier…with everyone being so busy these days, its nice to be able to talk to several vendors at one sitting…much like event facilities do. Of course you are free to get anyone you like, in our group or out…but if they are good…you like them AND it saves time…hey why not!

Are you getting everything out of your wedding day!

You’ve gone over budget and still didnt get everything you wanted…. you’ve had to cut back on a few things…but wait!!! Dont cut the videography! The two things you will take with you (besides your new spouse!) is your pitures and your video!

Photographs are wonderful and dont think I’m saying that isnt necessary…it definatley is!! But so is videography. It’s like this prep section I just finished.  The mother of the bride helps her daughter put on her necklace…then kisses her shoulder…its was so sweet and spontaneous. 

But…a single frame such as a photograph can’t capture the whole picture. 

You’re at your reception and your DAD does the worm! Who would have expected that! Unless you had a videographer you probably didnt get much of it! You can’t depend on your memory; you will remember very little of the details but if you had a professional videographer you wont need to. 

Think about what you would want to see in 10 years from now and then factor the cost over that period of time! Really pretty cheap for what you will actually have for future generations!

New person on staff

Today I believe we have reached an agreement with a local photographer to work with us in creating mulimedia packages for our weddings.  I have been working for some time to partner with several photographers, and although there are a few that we will hopefully be doing buisness with, this venture is exactly what I have wanted for my clients.  I have wanted to offer the mix of photography with videography.  I will post more in the weeks to come as we get informtion to post on our web site and samples of the work.

General Happenings!

This past week I shot the Landmark vs Eagles Landing Christian school Baseball game.  It seems that this is the first time Landmark has beaten this team in a while AND they did it with mostly sophomores! Well, that was a fun game to shoot! I also shot a Lacrosse game featuring Pope and McIntosh! Well for those of you who have watched Lacrosse you have no idea what one thinks seeing this game for the first time! It was an exciting game and it didn’t take me long to figure it out, but the thought of players running down the field, hitting the opponent with a stick with nothing but a few shoulder pads is just interesting to me! The game ended 10-11 and can be seen on www.thecitizen.com web site.  We are developing an internet TV station on thecitizen.com, which is the web site of one of our local newspapers. Right now we have high school sports, but more is in the works so stay tuned!!

Aside from that we have booked several weddings this week and shot one this weekend. Very fun! The bride was beautiful and the brothers were a riot! I always check out the footage when I get home, even though it will be a minute before I can edit because of the volume of work we have, and the footage is beautiful! Cant wait to edit it.  I was going to shoot a love story today, but the weather is bad, so we’ll do it next weekend.

Well, I have some editing to do and then a client coming over for a “movie night” for a premiere of their wedding movie! This is the most rewarding part of my job….the end of the journey, when they see the finished product!

Fayette Woman Annual Banquet

I attended the Fayette Woman Banquet last night and it was really one of the nicest events I have ever been to.  Fayette Woman highlights women in our community who rise to the challenges that life presents them.  Some of these women honored tonight truly are an inspiration to all who struggle with the difficulties of life.  I applaud Joyce Beverly for her time and effot she puts into this magazine each month to recognize women who are overcomers! We all have difficulites, but how we deal with them determine if we are a victim or a victor! I was saying that LONG before Joel Osteen did!!! Although he’s a cool guy to have common ideas with!

Wedding Season Is Well Underway!

Well, yes, I do A LOT of other things besides weddings, but I have to tell you, I really like doing weddings! It is an opportunity to be creative.  I get to be with people on the happiest day of their life, see some really funny things and just have fun while I put it all together! I heard from a bride a few months ago that had her one year anniversary and we had done her video.  She was calling me to tell me that she loved her video as much now as she did when she first got it.  I had a couple here the other day viewing their video.  They were reliving it all over again, because I was able to capture so much of what happened.  They said I gave them the best gift they got! Thats why I love doing weddings; you give people something that will be meaningful to them for a very long time. Yea, thats great job satisfaction!

 

You cant always tell people on the front side what this will mean to them.  They are looking at your work and they dont know these people.  They dont realize the impact it will have on them when it is them and their guests on the screen.  I’ve asked brides who have just finished watching thier video for the first time if I would have been able to tell them at the begining that it would have the impact on them that it did.  They all say they would not have believed it would affect them the way it did.  I wish it was because I am such an awesome videographer (although I dont get any complaints but honestly, I’ve seen people whose work was technically not very good, though the effort was there, and the clients loved it. It is the impact that seeing it from that perspective has on people.  The things you didnt get to see, the people you forgot you talked to, the things you paid for but were to busy to even notice….are all caputred and presented in an entertaining way that it cant help but impact you.

Well I hope if you are a bride you dont let the day you have spent so much time preparing for go by without taking that last bit of effort to capture it in living motion so that you will have it forever.

I had not realized there hasnt been a post since last month! It’s been extrememly busy here lately. Just a note…DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM OFFICE DEPOT!!! I have been trying to get my office furniture right for 2 months. Office Depot isnt the problem…its the people who deliver! It has been a mess to the point I am acutally missing my old stuff that was entirely too small for the workflow I have.  IKEA saved the day!

In the middle of the madness I still got work done..albeit on the floor some of the time! One of the projects I have been working on is a video for Fayette Woman, a local magazine that features local women highlighting their lives.  This is a great magazine! Anytime you see people protrayed in a positive light in the media it is truly a breath of fresh air. There are not nearly enough publications that focus on the good things that people do…especailly where it involves women!
